Someone So Special

There are some things in this life that I'm still having a hard time comprehending.  They say everything happens for a reason.  However, some particular reasons don't surface right away, making things harder to understand, and sometimes accept.

A week or so ago, we saw some military veterans by the entrance of Sam's Club for their annual veterans' aid campaign.  With DH being a veteran himself, he donated some money and he got a "poppy" made of paper, which he hung on our rear view mirror.  I asked him why a poppy of all flowers.  He explained that poppies would grow over graves of soldiers who died during the war.  Since then, poppies have been used in commemorating fallen soldiers, especially in the US, UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.  Poppies have several interpretations, depending on the country, culture, and what is being celebrated.  They can symbolize eternal sleep in Greek and Roman mythology, while in Classical mythology they signify a promise of resurrection after death.

I figured poppies would be appropriate to use in a card I made for a friend whose grandmother just recently passed.
