National Craft Month (Day 19)

Hi crafty friends!  Today is my late father's birthday.  And even though the members of my family are all far apart, we celebrate this day.

I altered this wooden box to serve as a keepsake box where I can keep mementos of my Daddy.  DH took this home for me quite some time ago.  He knew I can do something with it.  He was right.

I painted the box inside and out with Deco Art Metallic Paint in Copper.  Because the cover had some printing on it, I painted it with black acrylic paint first before painting with copper metallic paint.  After that, I inked the edges with black ink and stipple brushed with ColorBox Chalk Ink in Charcoal.  And then I embossed images on the cover with a stencil by The Crafters Workshop.  The word CHERISH and the images around the box were done with foam stamps and black acrylic ink.  When I was satisfied, I sprayed the box with a clear acrylic sealer.

Inside the box, I just adhered black cardstock on the bottom part.  Then opposite the cover, I attached a fabric frame by EK Success, where I'll put a pic of my Dad.  As I put stuff inside the box, I'll probably be adding more accents and embellishments.  But for now, I'm satisfied.
