Happy Easter

I was in the supermarket with DH when I saw an array of Marshmallow Chicks in the center aisle.  That moment, I wanted to make an Easter card with the cute colorful chicks.

Good thing I had the die to fit my project.  This particular Spellbinders die is actually a bird shape, but could work.  Going through my scrap paper stash, I was able to make these cutesies.

I wasn't in the mood for any inking, so I opted to emboss my background, and punch a border around it.  The stamp is from my RAK stash which I touched up with Spica glitter pen, and I just wrote the sentiment inside.

Ghirardelli Easter

Hello crafty friends!  It's almost back to normal for me since my sister has left for California.  My planet is still very messy though... but there's no more excuse not to clean.

Anyway, while in Chicago last week, we went to the Ghirardelli store by Miracle Mile.  I've never seen so many Ghirardelli squares in a variety of flavors!  And you get a free one as you enter the store.  They also serve hot and cold drinks there as well.

So I bought a bunch of Ghirardelli squares to give to my co-workers for an early Easter treat.  To add a personal touch, I wrapped it with white cardstock and added two more layers for more dimension.  I wanted this to be a quick and easy project as I had 35 squares in mind. 

My base that is wrapped around the Ghirardelli square measured at 1.5 x 4.5.  It was then scored at 1, 1.25, 3 and 3.25 inches on the board.  Then I cut and embossed 1.5 white cardstock squares.  The sentiment was just plainly stamped, punched, and adhered with mounting tape.  Guess what?  I was able to do all 35 in less than an hour.

National Craft Month Day 31

I can't believe it's already the last day of National Craft Month.  March has been a challenge for me, and I'm proud that I was able to make 26 projects.  That's a record breaker, at least for me :D

For my 27th and last creation for NCM, I made Easter eggs.  With this project, I used the following:

• Cricut Expressions
• various embossing plates and folders (with the aid of Big Shot)
• Creative Memories 12 inch Decorative Trimmer
• Fiskars, Stampin' Up and Martha Stewart edge punches
• leftover cardstock and bg paper
• Color Box pigment ink
  

 

Before I began, I cut oval shapes with the CE.  Then, I dry embossed a bunch of cardstock.  Then I swiped ink on the embossed surface.  After that I cut/punched the edges with my edge punchers and decorative trimmer.    And the fun part is adhering layeres of bg paper and embossed cardstock on each "egg".

I'm going to use these eggs in my bulletin board at school.  That's why I also cut grass with the Cricut Expressions.  Right now, the board has my 3D flowers and Think Spring title.  Tomorrow, I'll be adding the grass and eggs in time for Easter.  I can't wait to see what the board will look like.

I'd like to end my NCM celebration with my deepest sympathy to Mish and her family.  Her mom passed away on Sunday.  It was a very sudden and sad situation.  My thoughts and prayers are with you, Mish.  I hope all is well with you.
