WCMD Card 1

Although I have been bad about posting in my blog, I made sure to celebrate World Card Making Day all month of October.  I did prepare for this crafty event - having a pile of designer paper already cut as card fronts, and sentiments already cut for whatever card I make.  For my WCMD cards, I did a lot of recycling materials.  

Today's card involves an image I got from an online swap years ago.  I accented it with Copics to match the layers.

I have confession.  When I was making this ribbon, I realized I was getting a bit rusty.  I have forgotten to make a bow using a bow maker (mine's Unity).  I had to search on Youtube to remind myself how this works.  Yikes!

Improvised Photo Studio... Part Deux

I say "part deux" because I posted about this 4 years ago (click here to see).  I have used the D-Flector by Sharpics for almost 5 years. It really worked great for me - I was able to get good pics of my projects.  Sad to say, this product is no longer available.  Even the Sharpics website is now up for sale.  With natural lighting, my daylight OTT Lamp, and my craft room's daylight light bulbs, I didn't even need the two lamps shown below.  

I guess I used it so often that it finally gave and the base broke.  I bought another type of mini photo studio from a local store, but it didn't work for me.  Since I still have the white (silver and black too) D-Flector background, and I thought I can improvise and make something to replace the base.  

But for now this is what I came up with.  

I attached a couple of paper clips to my 12 x 12 cardstock organizers, then I hung the D-Flector background.  

This is how it looks like when it's not being used.  If I need to get 12 x 12 cardstock, all I have to do is lift the D-Flector background.

When I need to take pics, pull open the top 3 drawers of my metal fixture and lay the D-Flector background on it.  Then I'm ready to take pics.

I might think of other ways to improve this system, but I am very satisfied with this one right now.

Play Time!

I may have been bad in spending time in my planet, but not this weekend.  My friend, Danica, needed help in making a travel scrapbook to give as a gift.  I can never pass that up.  I get to play! For today, I'd like to share with you some of the pages we made together.  Yep. This play time involved a lot of brain storming and team work.  

This is one of my favorites.  The picture is not giving it much justice, but we used pages and elements from one of the DCWV 12x12 stacks (I think).  Sorry I don't have the exact name of the pack, as it's Danica's.  But I sure remember loving every page of it.

The next page is more of a collage of pictures.  This is a very easy layout.

I love the swirls in this two page layout.  It came with the designer paper, and we utilized it.

This is one of the easy layouts you can make.  I call this the mirror layout.

And last but not the least is one of my favorites.  The letters are scrabble-themed alpha cardboard stickers.  I told you this required brain storming.  This page will look great once the small pictures are attached to the pink sections.

I had a great time making these pages with Danica.  We weren't able to finish the entire album, but we sure had fun, with a nice bonding time as a bonus!

Pink Baptism Invites

If I can make invites for my friends babies, I should make them for my very own niece.  This year, we were blessed with a new addition to our family.  Her name is Johanna Hertz, and I call her Yoyoball.  I regret that I won't be able to hold her while she's a baby because of our geographical distance, but I love her dearly and I can't wait to see her.

It was decided that Yoyoball's theme is pink and white.  Now that is easy.

I got to play with Anna Griffin embossing folders in this project.  The designs are just very intricate, as you can see below.

I also embossed the flap of the matching envelope.  I love it!

For the inside, I printed the details on vellum, then cut with Spellbinders die.  I used micro Glue Dots to attach.  Sorry no pic as there is a list of names of godparents.

I was lucky to have a box handy to fit the invites.  They are ready to fly to the Philippines.  I attached a piece of acrylic cut to size to keep the invites in place during transit.  

I wish I can fit in the box so I can go too.
