Tinker Planet Channel

Let me begin with a little history of Tinker Planet.  It all started in a double door guest room closet in our apartment in a US Navy base in Japan.  That was about 16-17 years ago.  Then, in addition to the closet was a computer desk I converted into a craft desk.  My first craft website was called "Butingting and Everything" through the now defunct Multiply.  When we were moving to the US, I told my husband that by hook or by crook, I'm going to have a craft room.  And so I did.  Then I changed my website name to Tinker Planet.  I still remember that eureka moment while driving home from town.  When Multiply was closing down, I moved to Blogger.  At this time, I created the Tinker Planet channel on Youtube just to keep the name.  It was empty for fourteen years, but I decided to activate the Tinker Planet channel this 2021.

And what better way to launch the Tinker Planet Channel with a video tour of my craft space.  I split the presentation into three parts.  I hope you enjoy it!

I'd love to know what you think!  Please don't forget to LIKE, SUBSCRIBE and SHARE!

Stay safe everyone....

The Sign

Hello, crafty reader!  The planet is pretty decent as I type, and I'm very glad.  There's been a lot of new additions here, but just haven't really had the chance to blog about them.  I'm taking one step at a time as real life stuff takes place.  Let me start with the new Tinker Planet sign.

I blogged last spring about a wooden sign I made with friends from my former job at the school.  I really had a good time painting and playing with vinyl for the first time.  After this experience, I'm not scared of vinyl anymore.

Then in the summer, I had family come over and made more wooden signs for their homes.  You can see more details about this Tinker Planet event by clicking here.

You know how creative juices flow when your craft room is in pretty orderly condition.  So I was able to spice up my wood sign.  I consider this as a kick start for National Craft Month.

Because this sign is to be hung in my craft room, I did my best to match it with my Tinker Planet header.

My only regret is that the alpha font available for this party was very limited.  They just cut whatever they have in their die cutting machine.  I basically didn't have a choice.  But also, I didn't know what to expect when I went to this party.  Anyhow, it still worked.

The wood was stained black first, and then acrylic paint was applied.  After which, I did image stenciling with black acrylic paint.  The vinyl application came last.

Here at the planet, I gathered embellishments that could fit my Tinker Planet header. These butterfly 3D stickers worked perfectly.

Then at the bottom, I adhered red bling on white flower embellishments, to match the left side of the Tinker Planet header.

I'm happy with the result of the Tinker Planet sign.  It already has a spot here to be hung.

For National Craft Month, I plan on doing a lot of work here at the planet.  Not necessarily crafting, but more on improving the layout and ergonomics of my small craft room.  I will be posting them as I go along.

'Til next blog!

World Card Making Day Blog Candy Winner

Good morning crafty friends!  What was your costume yesterday?  Looking through my closet, I managed to find an outfit that could work as a witch.  Good thing I have the Harry Potter Sorting Hat bought from Disney World earlier this year.

Anyway, last night while waiting for trick-or-treaters, I was able to visit each participant's entries.  I did try to leave comments as much as I can.  If you didn't get any from me, it would have been a computer glitch or your blog itself wouldn't let me.  Just the same, I enjoyed taking my time and looking at your cards.  Found me tons of inspiration and new ideas, and with that I thank you!

Last night also, I decided to kick start the TINKER PLANET FACEBOOK PAGE.  As of this time, I'm working on getting 20 likes for it to become a "real" facebook page.  With this new endeavor, I can give more updates, do more fun activities and interact with crafty friends like you.  Would you be part of my first 20?  Click here or the Facebook logo on my right sidebar, or just go to your Facebook page and search:  Tinker Planet.  I hope to see you all there!

And today, I was finally able to update the Tinker Planet Homepage.  When you have the time, please check out my September 2011 Projects and October 2011 Projects.  I also made a separate album for my Halloween 2011 Projects, where you can see some Halloween cards which I wasn't able to post in the Tinker Planet Blog.

Hmmm.... I guess that's it.  Did I forget anything???
