Bobble Hat

What!??!  My last crochet project was in March 11, 2010?!?!?  It's almost three years!  I can't believe it's been that long.  It was too long ago that I had to review my past posts to figure it out.  

The more pathetic part of this ordeal is that I've been buying crochet magazines despite the fact.  And please don't make me count the magazines (and books) I've bought from March 11, 2010 to this day.  

One of my favorite crochet magazines is Vogue Knitting Crochet.  And in their 2012 Special Collector's Issue, I found a pattern of this really cool hat:

 

I have never crocheted a hat before and I figured this is a good time to make one.  So I started crocheting a couple of weeks ago, and just this weekend, I was able to finish it.  I used thicker yarn so I can wear this hat this winter season.  DH said I finally have a hat that fits my big head... hee hee!

There are lots of projects in Vogue Knitting Crochet 2012 Special Collector's Issue that I really want to make.  The question is if I have the time.  I guess, all I have to do is start, just like what I did with this hat.

National Craft Month (Day 26)

Hello everyone!  I have a really good (and productive) reason for my late posting today.  I promised myself that I won't log on to the internet until I have totally cleaned the house.  So that's what I did all day, cleaning and washing and wiping and all sorts of wifely chores.  I proved to myself that I can really do a lot of other things when my mind is off the computer, and my planet as well.  I'm pretty proud of myself.

So after dinner, I crocheted a case/bag for my cellphone.  I'm the type who is attached to my cellphone, therefore it's always with me.  Even back in the Philippines, I like to carry my cellphone on a little pouch or bag that I hang over my shoulder.  I already have a bunch of them in fact - some are beaded, some made of cloth and even leather.  And yes, this is not my first crocheted cellphone bag.

I can't believe we only have 5 days left for National Craft Month.  I sure am having fun making projects and seeing all your wonderful creations.  There is still time to submit your projects and maybe you can win some blog candy.  Click here for that.

National Craft Month (Day 20)

Hi everyone!  I wouldn't pass National Craft Month without a crochet project.  Here's a Chrysanthemum I made following instructions from the book 100 Flowers to Knit & Crochet by Lesley Stanfield.  And because I haven't crocheted for a while, I had to do several tries to finish this flower as expected. 

I can use this flower to make a brooch or accent for a bigger crochet project.

I'm Back!!!

Goodbye to busy, hot and modern California.  Now I'm back to the more relaxed, laid back, simple and nice weathered Michigan - the place I love and have called my new home.  

There are so many things to do, stuff to create, and my planet's in the same state when I left it three weeks ago - a total mess.

 

But before I go to the latest, I want to share some photos to the best beads store I've ever been.  It's called South Sun Beads Superstore in San Diego, CA.  It's a big warehouse filled with beads of all sorts, and a lot of other things about jewelry making.  That day, they were having a tent sale outside the warehouse with really good deals.  But I made sure to go inside the actual warehouse and see everything for myself.  Seeing all those strands of beads while walking through each aisle was overwhelming.  There were so many I didn't know where to start.  I wasn't able to take photos inside the warehouse because customers can't take anything with them inside the warehouse.  You have to leave your purse in lockers before you enter the shopping area.  They really are tight on security.

Also, while visiting my parents in Orange County, I was able to crochet a muffler for my Mommy.  It was originally meant to be a mini blanket, but I ran out of time and I ended up with a muffler.

 

I have more to share, but it's already past midnight.  My body clock's still California time (3 hours earlier), but I should adjust back to Eastern time.

Amigurumi

I was able to make my first Amigurumi a few days ago.  I can't believe it took me forever to make.  I guess the first time is always difficult.  Because this is basically just a trial project, I used leftover yarn from my Crocheted Valance project a few weeks ago.  My Amigurumi has a weird snout, and I hope it still looks like a bear... hahaha!
 

 

Also, I got to play with my Pullip Dolls for a bit this afternoon.  I bought a couple of Cheetah Dolls from Big Lots at a really good price.  And yeah, I bought them for the clothes.  I've never taken my Pullips outside, so I did.  It was pretty challenging because it was a bit windy.  While I was dressing up my Haute, her left hand got broke.  I was so mad.  

 
 

I'm so glad that Loctite Super Glue worked well and I was able to put the pieces back together.  Click here to see the photos.

 

My Latest Crochet Project

I finally was able to finish my latest crochet project:  a pair of valances for our master's bathroom.  

One ball of Red Heart Fall is enough for each valance.  The lining you see is leftover yarn I've had for quite some time.  You can see more photos here.

 
Now that these are done, I'm planning on starting a new cross-stitch project.  However, I haven't decided what pattern to use.  I am actually looking for a cardinal bird pattern, but I haven't been lucky.

 
I hope to catch up on more craft work this weekend.  But first I have to recover from a darn bladder infection.  *Sigh!*

Crocheted Doll Dress

I was able to do this today while I was pitching in for DH at work.  

I  had a ball of different colors of leftover yarn knotted together, and I used that to finish this dress.  No, I didn't follow any pattern, and I'm proud to say that I crocheted this all by myself.  I just used basic stitches from slip stitich to single, half double, double and triple crochet.  For closure, I just used a regular hook, attached with clear thread.  I was a little worried if it would fit my Pullip doll, but when I fit it on Zuora, I was really happy.

National Craft Month DAY 23

I wanted to crochet today.  But it had to be a quick and easy project.  So I decided to crochet a cape for my Pullip doll.  I used yarn bought from the dollar store and I finished it while watching 24.

Basically, I just crocheted a rectangle, the folded one of the narrow sides to serve as sleeves to the cape.  Then I sewed a silver button for closure in the front.  I wasn't sure how it was going to look while crocheting this cape.  But I do like the final product :)

Monday is Crochet Day

After finishing my Seat Cover Project, (which now I kinda don't like the color combination!  It's too Christmasy!  LOL), I decided to take a break from crocheting.  On Sunday, while I was browsing through my old crochet magazines from storage I found this pattern, and I said to myself, "I'd like to wear that!"  So on crochet day Monday, I started.  What really amazes me, and frustrates me at the same time, about crocheting clothes, is that I can't seem to picture what I'm doing to be the same as the photo in the magazine.  I'm like, which part of the blouse is this?  And I'd go to the instructions again, and even redo everything a few times to make sure that I'm not making a mistake.  And just like any other craft, I just can't stop because I can't wait to see the end product.  Right now, with the looks of what I have crocheted so far, I have no idea which part of the blouse it is.  And the pattern/instruction is not specific enough to let you know.  In fact, I have never crocheted an article of clothing that looks exactly the same as the photo in the pattern.  I just had to tweak a little bit for it to fit me.  Somehow, I kinda like that, because the project ends up to be an "original" work. 

We'll see how this one will end up...  I wonder and I'm excited!
