Graduation Cards

This year has not been all that good for most students, especially the high school and college seniors who were not being able to march and get their diplomas on stage in front of their proud family and friends.  I feel for them.  I used to work at the high school office and I always pointed out to the seniors that their graduation is a once in a lifetime event.  A milestone.  The graduates of school year 2019-2020 didn't have that special event.  No ceremonies.  No graduation parties.  However, each town got creative and celebrated these graduates in different shape or form.  In some towns, I saw pictures of the graduates alongside their main drag for everybody to see.  I saw on TV some graduates receiving their diploma on a small stage in front of their house.  

This post is for them.  I hope the recipients of these handmade cards are able to give these cards to the graduates in their lives this year.

Congrats 2

Graduation quick card number 2 is a lot easier.  But I tried to make it look complicated by using slanted lines.  I used the graduate's school colors to match the occasion.  For quick card like this, alpha stickers are really handy.

See the punched cardstock on top?  That's a pocket to slide in the monetary gift.

Congrats 1

Another batch of high school graduates marched this year.  It's actually one of my favorite parts of the school year.  When I was working at the high school, I kept reminding the seniors to cherish every moment of their graduation (and be in their best behavior).  It only happens once, marking the transition of the carefree days of youth to living the real world.  I haven't forgotten about my high school graduation day.  And yes, if I could turn back time, there are some things I would like to alter to make it better.

So this year, we were invited to two graduation parties.  One of my great excuses to step in my planet and make some cards.  Yeah I know.  If my craft room can talk, they will totally ban me from entering due to abandonment.  

Anyway, for graduation quick card number one, I took out a corrugated blank card, topped it with a die cut, topped with alpha stickers.

Then for the inside, using the same cardstock, I punched the top and used it as a small pocket for the monetary gift.  I also stamped and embossed a sentiment over it.  I used stickers for the name.

This card only took 30 minutes tops to make.  It really helps with you have tools handy to use to make a decent card.

Graduation Card

One of our nephews graduated from high school, so I made him a card to put a monetary gift.  This one is a quick card, which involves simple stamping and embossing.

When I make a quick card, I like to use a lot of layers.  Layers, when done right, make your card look "complicated."

Congratulations

It's that time of the year again... a new batch of Seniors graduated from high school.  And that means graduation parties as well. And that means time to make graduation cards.  And I'm sooo behind on this.

So first thing today, I made sure to make one for a graduate who's having his party this afternoon.  This is what I came up with:

This is not my typical graduation card.  I usually put a flap on the inside to put the monetary gift.  I do like this new approach.

Seussy

Hello crafty friends!  Here's a quick post about a quick project we made before I left for the Philippines last month. I was asked by DSIL to make a Dr. Seuss sign for our niece's graduation party to display.  She's a bookworm, you see.  And thus this sign:

Originally, the plan was to cut letters with my Cricut.  But since there wasn't any time - literally a couple of hours before the party, we had to make it a lot quicker and easier.  Why should I complicate things, right?  So I dug out my big alpha stickers and chipboard alphas instead.  And while I was cooking my Filipino rice noodles, I had my friend Sabrina make the sign for me.  Thank you gf!

All for a Buck

Who doesn't like dollar stamps?  My visit to Michaels or Joanns won't be complete without digging through the dollar stamp bins.  

For this new graduation card, I used a couple of my dollar stamps - one by Studio G, and the other by Michaels.

Materials used:

image/sentiment - Studio G, Michaels

ink - Tsukineko, Copic

tools - EK Success edge punches

adhesive - Scotch, mounting tape

This sentiment stamp by Michaels was heat embossed, then touched up with  Copic markers.  The rest of the images/sentiments are from a Studio G dollar stamp set.

It was also my first time to use the EK Success 2-in-1 Deep Edge Punch.  I sure like it!  You can see below the two designs on the two layers of the top flap.

I have one more graduation card to make, and my goal is to finish it before the weekend.  'Til next blog!

Congrats

One of the things I like about this season are the graduation parties.  For some reason, it seems like a silent contest among the adults as to how many graduation party invitations have been received.  It's also a good time to see relatives that you haven't seen for a long time.  I guess you can agree with me that it's more fun to be with relatives during graduation parties than funerals.  The down side?  The more invites you get, the more likely you are to spend money.

But to me, one of the good things I like about being invited to graduation parties is making the graduation gift cards.  Every time I make one, I make sure to follow the graduate's school or class colors. 

Last weekend, we went to a relative's graduation party.  In other words, I was able to make my first graduation card this year:
