Halloween Treat Bags 2020

Hello crafty reader!  I am excited about October 31st because this is my niece's first Halloween in the US.  But before tick-or-treating, we have to make Halloween goodie bags to give to her classmates.  She sure was excited to put this all together, and she was very involved from beginning to end.

I sure was glad to be able to use these wonderful Halloween 12x12 designer paper.  My niece picked the designer paper, and she gave me company as I make the treat bags.  

She put the candy in the treat bags, and also put the Halloween accents on them.

Aside from the treat bags to give to her classmates, we made more to give to trick-or-treaters on Halloween night.

Pick Your Poison

I was inspired by a fellow crafter after she posted a project using Starbucks bottles.  I have used these bottles before, but it has been a long time.  Her post reminded me that I still have a lot of them hiding in the basement.  So for my Halloween treats this year, I used up all the bottles I have left.

I covered the bottle caps with punched DP, and quickly did some stamping for the front, which was layered on black cardstock cut with Spellbinders.

Now we're all set for Halloween.  Just in case we run out, we have more goodies in treat bags.

Halloween 2015

We never really celebrated Halloween growing up in the Philippines.  I remember just reading about it in books or seeing it on TV.  So when I lived in an American community, I can say I appreciate Halloween more than most people.  Back in Japan, I like to make Halloween crafts with my Japanese students and take them trick-or-treating.  Oh yeah.  I like to dress up too.

I didn't carve my first pumpkin until I moved to the US.  I love to carve pumpkins that I even bought a good set of carving tools.  I like to light them up with candles outside on the porch.  I'd decorate too, and dress up.  But for the past couple of years, I was just too tired from work to do anything Halloweeney, though I still made sure to make halloween treats to give to the kids.

Not this year.

I searched for my pumpkin carving tools and worked on 7 pumpkins in one night.  Yeah.  My arms hurt that night and the following day, but it sure was worth it.  All designs carved here were patterned from Cricut die cuts.

This is the biggest and most detailed of them all. 

Of course, I had to make one for my band IDK. 

Then comes the treats for the kids.  Nothing too fancy, but with lots of goodies inside!

I used a couple of $1 stamps by Inkadinkado, garnished with some bling.

I may have not decorated for Halloween, but I sure was a Crying Comic Girl during my band gig that night.

Boo!

I like to carve pumpkins, put up Halloween decorations, and most of all, make treat bags for Trick-or-Treaters on this day of the year.  For this one, I was so busy at work, I only got to do some decorating last night.  So nothing fancy, just enough for one night.  And last night also was when I made my Halloween treat bags to give away.

My favorite technique for treat bags is the Sour Cream Container.  It's quick and easy, and often makes people think "how did she do that?".  I know because that's exactly what came to mind when I first saw one.  There is a nice tutorial at Splitcoaststampers (click here).

TOT Goodie Bags

So I spent my Tuesday night making goodie bags for Trick-or-Treaters.  I thought it wouldn't take that long, but I guess after 12 months, I have forgotten!

I made two batches - the "regular" and the "special" goodie bags.  They all have the same stuff inside, but the difference is how I made the bags.  All the stamps used are Studio G dollar stamps bought years ago.  Oh and yeah, I used "Glow In The Dark" embossing powder on the stamped images.  They look really cool in the dark!

The special TOT Goodie Bags had embossing and inking on it.  I also used a deep edge punch for the top rim.  They also have the some bling.

For the "regular" ones, I just used some leftover dp from last year's Halloween projects.

Well, I hope we have a good turnout tonight, with it being a regular week night.  And the weather hasn't been cooperating at all either.  Either way, our treat bags are ready to be taken and my carved pumpkins will be there to greet the TOTs.

I couldn't think of any other title for today's post - So I just spelled yesterday's title backwards.  I mentioned previously that I have three more pumpkins to carve.  The bad news is one of them is already rotting on one side.  The good news is, I only had to carve two pumpkins - giving myself more time to do other things.  

Anyway, for the last two pumpkins, I decided to use images from the Pumpkin Carvings cartridge.  After measuring each pumpkin, I'm able to adjust the size of the images on my Gypsy, and cut with Cricut Expressions.  Even though I haven't use my Cricuts for months, I still enjoy each time I use them, reminding how glad I am that I have these tools.

 

Now I'm caught between making Halloween Treat Bags or watching "Hoarders" on TV.  Or maybe I'll just call my cousin in New York and check how things are going...

Carved

I spent my Sunday carving pumpkins, aiming to finish all eight, but I was only able to finish five.  Who would have thought that carving pumpkins can numb your fingers!  But that's not stopping me from finishing what I started.  I'll do the rest tomorrow.

Also, while trying to look back, I realized that I wasn't able to carve pumpkins last year.  I was on a roll in 2010.  No wonder, my fingers got numb...

Anyway, this year, I decided to not use designs from my Cricut cartridges.  I wanted "more scary" designs.  So I went ahead and typed "pumpkin carving pattern" on Google.  I found some designs that I liked, and I ended up making these:

Glowing Hours

This is going to be a really quick post, as we are watching a vampire movie on TV.

I made this for Unity's October Challenge "All About Pumpkins".  I don't have any Unity pumpkin stamp, so I made this journaling image look like one.  It's from the "Confession:  I {luv} Unity" stamp set.

Can you see the other two lamps embossed with glow-in-dark powder?  It's hard to capture on camera, but I sure like the effect.

Happy Halloween

Hello crafty friends!  I always look forward to Halloween as I enjoy handing out goodies to kids trick-or-treating.  This year, I just made simple goodie bags.  I bought orange plastic bags, and a bunch of halloween cards which I cut in half to adhere on the bags.  But I made sure to make it extra special with some embossed images and Copic coloring.

In this picture, you can actually see the card front.  I just stamped the fangs and drew the eyebrows.

Here, you can see the back of the card, which I just stamped with the eyes and fangs.

This is the third design, using a ghost halloween card.

I like to put out halloween decorations as well, but I enjoy carving pumpkins the most.  Since I was busy with craft shows the past three weeks, I only found time to carve three pumpkins last night.  The designs are from the Pumpkin Carving cartridge by Cricut.
